Well most people get married and have families and need to buy bigger houses to accommodate them. Not you of course Hugey. Unanswered lonely hearts adverts in the local newspaper don't fill houses!

Perhaps they didn't want to sell, but let's say they're a decent sort living in an overrated suburb of Birmingham for example.

All is good, but then a weapons-grade bellcheddar moves in next door. Their house is losing value at the rate of approx £20k a week as word spreads and the area takes a bath in terms of house prices.

It's a no brainier.

Richer than you Hugey. I can afford to live in a house in West Cambridge, whereas you have discounted it because you can't afford it. Loser!

Big houses are quite hard to rent for any length of time as they tend to be rented by people who are after short term accommodation having sold a property and not quite found what they want to buy yet.

Hyoo you may also find that at some point you are old and decrepit and can't deal with stairs and don't want to take half an hour to walk from your favourite armchair to the kitchen and back.

No a real house in the city of Cambridge which I own with a modest mortgage.

And you have bought in Solihull.
