Semolina just off London Road is an awesome little café/restaurant.

MeatLiquor does great burgers but its a bit young and trendy

Hop Poles has always been a great pub in the Laines

Casablancas for some late night downstairs sweaty dancing (not an euphemism)

The Office on Sydney Street has a large collection of what you might call craft gins.

Mange Tout on Trafalgar Street isn't a bad restaurant. The best I've been to is probably Polpo, however.

The Sussex Yeoman by the station isn't a bad place to eat, either.
