my only contribution to this thread is... lawyers - inviting a client to "private dining" at your offices is painful. Restaurants have a buzz, which you don't really get from sitting in a meeting room, at a meeting room table which has been covered in a table cloth.

Thats a different discussion. This one is about places where people who know how to enjoy themselves have been out recenfly to entertain / be entertained.

UBS do very decent food too, but it's still eating where you were meeting.

Many memorable ones. The most memorable (for all the wrong reasons) was eating the last (slightly crispy and very dismal-looking) knockings of the chicken teriyaki from a Wasabi on Fleet Street after spending three straight days awake after the completion from hell. Fúcking depressing.
