HOW BIG IS YOUR LAPTOP.

JUST GET A NICE NORTH FACE, HAGLOFS, MAMMUT, BERHAUS BAG THAT CAN ACCOMMODATE YOUR COMPUTER THING. TAKE THE COMPUTER THING TO A SHOP AND TRY IT OUT. GET THE ONE YOU LIKE.

Amazon has a pretty good range, to suit all sorts of budgets.

I quite like Knomo: https://www.knomobags.com/uk/. But I've never paid their retail price.

SFBags is also nice, but expensive: https://www.sfbags.com.

Ah now this is a shopping expedition best made at a decent airport. Perfect way to while away an hour and you'll have your lappie with you. All those luxury leather goods shops and the need for something real not just a silly phone cover trinket thingy, bliss.
Eny fool kno money spent on a credit card at the airport doesnt count!

I am gery happy with my bag. Pained over the decision for many weeks. Will check make/model (if bags have such a thing) and then report my findings back here.

Lord no Mr S. OP is carrying a laptop, presumably to meetings and the like, not hiking through the Andes.

Second Knomo. Have had one of their messenger bags for years. Excellent quality.

I like it, IMT.

I previously just used the standard IT issued laptop bag.

yeah, I can see it is such a niche area of expertise that only rof can give the best advise on it.

Prices start from £1,000 for the laptop bag.

Rucksacks only for me now my back is fooked.

Small north face day pack with a laptop pouch and bumper generally and then my Peak Design for when carrying more / camera as well.

IMT - it has a bombproof laptop section, with a protection plate and false bottom padding.

Practicality over "how good do I look" every time.

"IMT - it has a bombproof laptop section"

Because if I am ever in the blast radius of a bomb it's my laptop I'll worry about. It's 34 litres - who needs a bag that big to carry a laptop.

Wot Obadiah said Mr S. My bag also has a designated laptop section. I will try and find a picture of the inside.

oddly I found the other day a bag with laptop compartment and other guff ...all for 20 quid.

I know I failed by rof standards.
