Eversheds will launch its "Agile" consulting arm in Asia over the summer to provide lawyers on a temporary, contract basis to clients.

The service will be rolled out in Singapore and Hong Kong with individuals who, as the name suggests, will work on a flexible, agile basis. There will be an initial pool of between 20 - 30 flexible lawyers in Asia, who will work alongside Evershed's offices in the region (Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai). Eversheds Agile was set up in 2011 and, as well as having a presence in Europe, has also been rolled out in Dubai.

Eversheds' Agile consulting arm has similar ambitions in some ways to BLP's "Lawyers on Demand", Allen & Overy's "Peerpoint" and Axiom Law, and reflects a general move by the profession to find lower-cost business models and to provide more work/life flexibility for lawyers.

A lawyer being flexible for his client, yesterday.

Eversheds has included an impressive list of clichés on its website to describe the "revolution", telling clients that Agile was "born out of Eversheds innovative approach to client services", "continues to surpass expectations" and will provide lawyers who "will hit the ground running". Or perhaps that should be bouncing given their flexibility.

Agree with anon at 11.24 : Typical of Eversheds to be copying the field, rather than leading it.

I imagine it's the usual Eversheds "lite" version. Don't knock it too much - car boot sales can still be good place to pick up a bargain.

Despite the sneery comments the UK service has been running now for at least a couple of years and each time we've used them they've been very helpful and have provided us with very high calibre experienced candidates with extremely positive attitudes.

Not sure why it is felt Eversheds is copying the field. Only Lawyers on Demand preceded the Eversheds Agile offering. Typical of Eversheds to get on with another successful business in a more understated way than some of its competitors...
