Clifford Chance has launched a Dawn Raids App. It will be a bit like Tinder but with less casual hooking up, and more instilling of panic for breaching competition rules.

The Magic Circle firm announced that the app will provide "clients experiencing a raid with real-time, step-by-step guidance on their rights and obligations, as well as instant access to Clifford Chance's specialists to receive immediate advice" (nice plug). Although it may be a short-lived gaming experience as phones can be confiscated during a raid.

CC released a first version of the app in France in 2017 but this updated edition has expanded coverage to 15 countries across Europe, Asia Pacific and the United States. The marketing spiel says the new app is the first to offer advice on handling raids conducted by over 80 regulatory authorities globally including "raids conducted by judiciary and administrative authorities" such as "competition, tax and market authorities". Sounds like an addictive app experience, although it's unlikely to become as big as Candy Crush as it's only available to clients of Clifford Chance.

So this is level 2 of the app

Katrin Schallenberg a partner in the firm's Paris-based antitrust practice said that the firm understands "the value we can offer our clients when we combine our expertise with the latest technology, to deliver the very best service." Fair point. Although some clients may choose not to download CC's latest offering simply for fear of arousing suspicion to anyone who sees an app boldly named "DAWN RAIDS" on their phone.
