Dawsons has asked all staff to consider working a four day week and taking a 15% pay cut.

The 18 partner, Lincoln's Inn firm has been around for some 300 years, but its longevity hasn't been enough to protect it from the downturn. A spokeswoman confirmed that staff had been asked to consider a four day week "as a voluntary measure", and said that a 15% cut was "the figure that has been bandied about". She denied that the firm was in difficulty, saying that the measures had been proposed "to try and run a more efficient ship". Hmm.

    Some bad news yesterday

She also denied rumours that the entire family team had resigned, but admitted that the head of department would be leaving in March.

All in all, it doesn't look good. Readers with more information can click here.
