Insiders have told RollOnFriday that Irwin Mitchell is trying to snap up Manchester firm MPH solicitors.

MPH, which specialises in personal injury, is a limited company with five shareholders, all of whom would presumably coin it as a result of the sale. The terms have yet to be announced and neither firm would provide any information when called yesterday. But if recent deals in a frenzied PI market are anything to go by there'll be a fair chunk of cash floating around. Slater & Gordon picked up Fentons for more than £32m in August, after nabbing Russell Jones & Walker and the PI team at Taylor Vintners. And it still had enough money left in the kitty to spend £1m with M&C Saatchi on some dreadful TV advertising.

An insider at Irwin Mitchell says that all MPH staff are set to transfer to IM by the end of this month. A spokesman for IM would only say "we have no comment to make".

Turn the closed captioning on for the advert on youtube. The interpretation of some of the lines is amazing!

PI firms buying PI firms - soon there will be no more than 5 big PI firms churning through their cases. If the reforms were designed to cut consumer choice then it is going to work.

Let's hope the staff at MPH are prepared for low pay, astronomical targets and
poor prospects.
