Some staff at Slater & Gordon's London office have been without heating for nearly three months.

The problem has hit the 4th floor of the firm's Chancery Lane office. An insider says that a fault developed in the building's central climate control system in early November, and the replacement part would have cost around £5,000. After the enormous amount of advertising the firm has commissioned, it seems the firm couldn't find this sum: so they did what any responsible employer would do and suggested that staff man their desks in coats and scarves.

After weeks of freezing temperatures the employees, unimpressed by the firm's determination to maximising the return to its investors, started grumbling about health and saftey legislation. The partners have now finally made a commitment to fix the problem. Just in time for spring.

A spokeswoman said "providing a comfortable work environment is a priority for us and as soon as the problem was brought to our attention we set about fixing it. Unfortunately the heating failure arose shortly prior to the Christmas period which contributed to the delays to repair work being carried out. The eight staff affected were provided with temporary heaters until the issue was resolved."

S&G are used to never putting the heating on... Always sunny in the land down under. Sure the news about competitor #1 screwing up on Google will warm them up.
