An ex-Simmons & Simmons lawyer has spent a night as a watchman in a haunted theatre.

Holly Boyd, a banking lawyer who left Simmons last year, beat 500 applicants for the chance to wander around the Arts Theatre on Friday 13th until morning. The makers of Ghost Stories, which is currently playing at the West End venue, hired Boyd as a publicity stunt after their auditorium 'scream-cam' absolutely, definitely turned on and off by itself during the night and recorded a seat flapping up and down.

House of horror

Boyd told the Evening Standard she "knew immediately it was mine" when she saw the job ad, which asked applicants to provide an example of bravery and a time when they used a torch effectively. Boyd told her interviewers that she once jumped out of a plane and swam with sharks, though presumably she could have just mentioned that her last job involved working through the night with investment bankers.

RollOnFriday tried to reach Boyd to ask whether poltergeists and potential roof collapses made a nice change from facilities agreements, but the oujia board only wrote "join us".
