A partner at DLA Piper's Milan office may face jail after being charged with corruption.

Giorgia Romitelli has more than ten years' experience in administrative law and, according to the firm's website, "assists domestic and international clients in tenders for public contracts". Possibly rather too assiduously. She was arrested earlier this year and charged with offering bribes to secure contracts for Milan's Expo 2015 world fair.

On Monday this week the court held that the matter should go to trial, the Lawyer reports, and a date was set for 18th September. Romitelli's co-accused include three other lawyers from smaller firms.

    Thats-a my kinda lawyer!*

A spokesman for the firm wouldn't comment.

*Yes, yes, we know Italians don't really speak like that, lighten up.
