RollOnFriday is drawing stumps on the Firm of the Year 2015 survey on Monday, with record numbers of lawyers writing in to rate their firm.

Over 250 respondents from Burges Salmon have given their verdict on their pay, prospects, loos and work/life balance. The firm routinely lands in the top ten and will be looking to place well this year. Management will also be keen to usurp fellow Bristol titan Osborne Clarke. Its rival edged ahead by one place in 2014, taking sixth position with 77%.

Meanwhile, battle is raging between the Magic Circle firms. In 2014 Allen & Overy came first of the five, managing joint 13th place with 70%. Its supremacy this year is not assured, with one junior wondering whether partners telling fee-earners to work the same hours as associates at US firms "but for 30k less" have "absolutely no shame"  or if associates like him "are morons" for bending over and taking it. Others are more positive, praising A&O for its "excellent" work, "optimistic feel" and "inclusive" culture. Find out next week if it has done enough to stave off its MC peers, or if Linklaters will soar like an eagle from its traditional last place of the five to first.

But who will take the Golden Turd?

Of course Managing Partners are most anxious about avoiding the Golden Turd, which signifies that a firm's staff are the least satisifed in the UK. Parabis, last year's recipient, may yet retain its prize, especially given its lawyers claim "it's very exciting like an episode of EastEnders: you never know which department or office is going to be killed off next".

Make sure your firm gets the ranking it deserves. Or, if you're an in-house lawyer, disclose who's treated you right and who you'll never use again.
