A partner at White & Case's Paris office is facing criminal proceedings after a former associate claimed that he made reference to her supposed love of "big Blacks' big dicks".

When RollOnFriday broke the story last August the partner admitted using crude language but denied that any harassment had taken place. The associate took a different view, saying that he had repeatedly made inappropriate comments about her appearance and sex life, that he had described her as a nymphomaniac and a "nutjob" and that she had suffered from depression as a result. The firm pointed out that it was an old complaint that had previously been dismissed by a judge and that the partner "has appealed the recent decision to reopen the matter".

And he lost. The Supreme Court referred the case back to the Court of Appeal, which confirmed that the case should continue and that the partner should be sent to the lower court for formal indictment. He now faces criminal charges.

A spokesman for the firm said, "We are unable to comment due to legal confidentiality requirements".
