A RollOnFriday legend has finally been struck off after a varied career in which she bit a woman, defrauded the Law Society and went to prison for spitting on her parents.

Frances Brough, a former personal injury lawyer, sat as the Law Society's representative for the North East of England from September 2009 until she was suspended in December 2011 for fraudulently claiming over £22,000 for train tickets, hotel bills and care costs.

She was also convicted of assault after an argument with her 83-year-old, terminally-ill neighbour in which she taunted, "here comes the dying one" and hung on "like a dog" after sinking her teeth into the arm of the woman's daughter. As police hauled her off she promised the pair she would "hunt them down" and "destroy" them.

    Brough greets an old pal

Two years after biteygate the barrister-turned-solicitor-turned-ragebeast drunkenly confronted her 74-year-old mother and 82-year-old father over their wills. Before jailing her for six months the court heard how she called her mum incontinent and smelly, told her dad she wished he was dead and then spat in their faces. Brough initially denied the assault charges, arguing that her parents lacked the mental capacity to make statements. She later changed her plea to guilty. And admitted making silent phone calls to her mum.

Brough has been struck off by the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal, and begins her new job at Help the Aged* on Monday.

Wow, what a nightmare. New reality tv show anyone? Ideal for Big Brother. I want to know what's going to happen next...

"John Brown, defending, said his client has developed mental health problems since November 2011, with the offending following. Before then, she was a perfect member of society, she was on the panel, still is, as the representative of the North East of England on the Law Society. She had a promising career ahead of her with all the privileges that go with that."
From the original case report. If true (and though credible, the original court does not seem to have been swayed to leniency) probably not a laughing matter. Just sad.
