Themis Lawyers boasts that it is a "leading law firm in Manchester", a claim no-one could doubt after seeing its office on the firm's website.

Over six storeys, modern, views over water, blue underlighting. Them really is lawyers. Plus "all enquiries and advice is [sic] provided by fully qualified, high calibre solicitors". But the firm needs to start badgering Google, because Street View doesn't seem to be reflecting reality.

Good effort from Themis, which at least isn't cloning staff. If you've come across the law firm equivalent of the Wizard of Oz, do tip off RoF.

Hello! You've reached the law offices of James M. McGill, Esquire, the lawyer you can trust"

These clowns used to offer work experience to College (now University) of Law students. Entirely unpaid, of course.

As if working at a not-even-high-street firm at the arse-end of Manchester would some CV-bolstering experience students should be grateful for.

Yet I bet they still get applicants. The legal industry, including in particular the SRA and the profiteering law schools that take anyone able to cough up the fees, need to take a good hard look at themselves and what they're doing for the profession.

What they should have mentioned is that the best curry restaurant in Manchester (Coriander) is only two doors down from their office. And there's a couple of dog grooming places close by as well. It's called marketing people.

I would point out to anonymous at 8.40 that, just like there are some pretty grotty areas of London, there are some in Manchester which are not representative of the city as a whole.

Typical comments from young lawyers who think they are something special because they work 80 hours a week for firms with nice carpets, no partnership prospects and huge overdrafts. When your firms go the same way as Cobbetts and you have to take a job at a high street firm, if they will have you, think on that the legal profession in this country was built on small unglamorous firms who actually cared about clients not just how much chargeable hours they would generate. Don't generalise about firms you know nothing about.

I am worried I am a mislawyer. Reassuring to learn that there is a firm dedicated to employing them.

Anon 9:08 - "arse end of Manchester?" That's Chorlton. That road going off to the left is High Lane. The houses on that road sell for about £600,000 each. Themis not in the arse end of Manchester.

Anonymous at 8.40 - how exactly is this the reality of the whole of Manchester?

As for them being a leading law firm in Manchester, I'd like to see them prove it!!!

I believe this law firm is just a front. In reality this is where Freshfields' overspill from the Arndale Centre will be housed.

"the legal profession in this country was built on small unglamorous firms who actually cared about clients"

That's doubtful, but even if it is true, it certainly wasn't built on "gynaecology claims", "A&E Claims" or "slips and trips" (all practice areas from Themis' website). This is ambulance chasing with poor grammar thrown in.

Christ knows what "divine law" is supposed to mean. Pun intended.

Well, they don't actually claim anywhere that they're located in the building in the pic. It's just a cityscape background. The assumption is ours to make.
