A newly-qualified Hogan Lovells lawyer is standing as a conservative candidate in the general election.

Despite boasting just one measly kitchen, corporate associate Fraser Galloway is campaigning to become MP for the Scottish constituency of Paisley and Renfrewshire South. If he succeeds he will leave Hogan Lovells, although with the Tories predicted to win a total of no Scottish seats at all, the firm probably doesn't need to worry too much.

His chance of winning is *this* big

The hopeful's platform includes demanding a strong airport for Renfrewshire and rueing the decline of Paisley's mills. He has also decided not to censor comments on his official facebook page, choosing to engage with critics instead. Although the man who asked "dae ye really expect ppl tae fall fer this shite" may be a lost cause.

Galloway has been dedicating his evenings and weekends to the campaign, but found time to answer some very important questions from RollOnFriday.

How do you rate your chances (Ladbrokes reckons 100 to one)?
"Worth a punt. Mon Mome won the Grand National at 100:1 in 2009."

Who is your political hero?
"George Orwell for his consistent opposition to authoritarianism of all types."

How has HogLove been about your potential exit?

"Hogan Lovells has been very supportive of my decision. The firm's sense of flexibility is one of the reasons I joined it initially. When I applied for my vacation scheme, for example, Hogan Lovells allowed me to interview at its Singapore office as I was living there at the time."

What is Ed Miliband's best trait?
"He's not Alex Salmond."

You have an impressive policy of not deleting Facebook comments, however negative. Any regrets?
"I did delete one comment that had a go at asylum seekers, but I don't delete comments just because they are offensive towards me. I do think that politics should not just be one way and that politicians should engage with those who question them. I try to give reasonable answers to unreasonable questions, and on several occasions the questioner has apologised for their original comment. Aggression usually takes place where people feel that they are not being listened to and they are sometimes surprised when they get a response. To my mind, engagement is always positive in the long-run."

What's it like canvassing door-to-door in such an anti-conservative environment?
"Don't believe everything you hear from the SNP. The Conservatives got 412,855 votes in Scotland in 2010, compared to 491,386 for the SNP. That's not a huge difference. People are generally pleasant to you in the town regardless of your politics."

Haggis, deep-fried Mars Bar or full English?
"Haggis. You'll struggle to get a deep-fried Mars Bar in Scotland unless you're a tourist."

Boris and Cameron are hanging off a cliff. You can only save one. Who do you pick?
"The Prime Minister."

ROF being slightly harsh on this chap, given that he actually did respond to your questions in very honest and (fairly) amusing manner. Perhaps he'd have been best served chained to a printer or drafting board minutes at Hogans?
