The Society of Black Lawyers is trying to get Katie Hopkins prosecuted after she referred to migrants drowning in the Med as "cockroaches".

Katie Hopkins, for the benefit of older readers, is a columnist who makes her living by being gratuitously offensive about anyone who isn't Katie Hopkins. Targets of her ire have included those who are overweight, poor, suffering from dementia, Scottish or Pakistani. And, on 17th April, migrants fleeing North Africa. Writing in the Sun newspaper, Hopkins seemed to be entirely unmoved by the humanitarian crisis that has cost thousands of lives and maintained that the only boat she'd send to help the "cockroaches" was a gunboat.

Within a couple of days more than 250,000 people had signed a petition calling on the Sun to sack her. And the Society of Black Lawyers decided to try to pursue her for crimes against humanity. Chairman Peter Herbert wrote a surprisingly poorly drafted letter to the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police saying that Hopkins' comments amounted to incitement to racial hatred. He urged that they be investigated "as a matter of urgency" and passed to the CPS. And he said that he was writing to the International Criminal Court "to petition for an investigation into these comments under the provisions of incitement to commit crimes against humanity".

    A crime against humanity yesterday

The Sun said that it had yet to hear from either the Met or the ICC. It is still featuring Hopkins' column on its website, where it is described as "brilliant".

Well people could just be nice to each other.
I suspect at many a Christian church and at muslim mosques they read bits from the Bible and koran which are pretty awful about gays (never mind women be subservient to men)..... and some comments in mosques are not too polite about jews.

There is a lot of intolerance about. However when women rather than vicars or imans make the comments people try to silence us as women women speak so many men want to shut them up.

If they can't tell the difference between offensive but legal speech and incitement to racial hatred the SBL should probably pack up its bags and go home

Clearly she has very serious issues, but then so does Peter Herbert by the looks of it.
