A leading Dutch firm has used its advertisements to boast of its terrible work/life balance.

Van Doorne, which reopened an office in London last year, took out full page adverts showing an old man sitting alone and looking sad. Accompanying this mournful portrait was the tragic tagline, "Sophie hasn't had dinner with granddad for a year". Underneath came the twist that doesn't make up for it at all: "At least she works at Van Doorne".

     I'm lovin it

When the ad was posted on Twitter, disbelieving commenters queried whether it was a fake. The prospect of pulling frequent all nighters, pissing off friends by cancelling appointments and committing elder neglect is a novel approach to recruitment. But it is apparently genuine. The London office failed to respond to requests for comment.

In a windfall for Van Doorne, others have offered up their own contributions to the firm's honest campaign.

    "I've never seen my father...at least he works at Van Doorne"


    "You can sleep when you're dead...at least you work at Van Doorne"

It isn't.

STOP PRESS: In a statement the management of the firm says, "At Van Doorne work-life balance is a topic very close to our hearts. With our recruitment advertisement "Opa Adrie” we wanted to emphasise this in an ironic manner. We did not achieve this goal and should have known that this would be the case".
