Several DLA partners are being investigated by the SRA after describing a former client as the "wicked witch", a "nutter" and as having a "twisted mind".

Steve Wilkinson, a Sheffield-based entrepreneur, managed to obtain a stack of emails from the firm in which he was roundly denigrated by some partners. At the time DLA Piper apologised, saying that the comments did "not reflect the standards or values of the firm or the individuals that made them". Wilkinson reported the firm to the SRA, blaming it for conspiring to cause his bankruptcy. But RollOnFriday understands that the partners are themselves under investigation for their unflattering comments.

To be fair, it seems Wilkinson would have tried the patience of a saint. He gave RollOnFriday copies of several emails that he had sent to what he describes as "DLA Shyster", and which demonstrate a unique view of reality. And when RollOnFriday reported Alexander Carter-Silk's public humiliation by Willy Wonka Charlotte Proudman, Wilkinson again reached for the green ink and sent a superb, spittle-flecked missive demanding that something be done about a profession that was tainted "like a piece of bad meat".

Proudman and Wonka: you never see them in the same room

A spokeswoman for the firm declined to comment. A spokesman for the SRA said "we do not usually comment when matters are ongoing".

Of course some of the clients are utter nutters sadly. However best not to say that in writing....

Why the need to make fun of Charlotte Proudman in this story? Another form of gratuitous undermining female legal professionals.

Yes, your comments about Charlotte Proudman are grossly unfair. Willy Wonka wouldn't want his name sullied like that.

Willy, this is probably horrendously politically incorrect but that is a stunning picture!!!
