Two of the City's larger recruiters of trainees, Hogan Lovells and Herbert Smith Freehills, have unveiled super high retention rates.

Herbies is retaining 33 out of 35 trainees qualifying this March, a 94% retention rate which marks yet another impressive performance after the firm retained 94% in the Autumn and 93% last Spring.

Hogan Lovells has found jobs for 27 out of 29 trainees. One qualifier has been given a fixed term contract, and while the firm has kept them on with a view to making their position permanent, RollOnFriday's cautious chart boffins have not included them in the retained statistic, resulting in a 90% rate. Training Principle David Moss said, "we are very pleased with the results of the qualification round".

So far this season, White & Case is bringing up the rear with an 87% retention rate, keeping on 13 out of 15 trainees. Prone to fluctuations given the smaller size of its intakes, the firm's latest falls short of its 100% rates in the last two rounds. Meanwhile, Trowers & Hamlins' 88% is an improvement on Autumn, when it kept five out of seven NQs (71%), and Spring, when it retained nine out of 11 (82%).
