A candidate for a marketing role at Slaughter and May has secured an interview after enclosing some sweets in his application.

The unnamed candidate sent the confectionery to the secretary of the firm's marketing head, Mary-Anne Anderson:

Eagle-eyed readers might spot the rogue ampersand in the firm's name and the erroneous reference to it as a company. Either of these howlers would ordinarily be a hanging offence, but according to Lawyer2B Anderson was sufficiently touched by the sweets that she granted the candidate an interview. She tweeted:

A spokeswoman for the firm came up with a quote that was pretty much too tedious to publish*, presumably because RollOnFriday's request for a comment wasn't accompanied by a Curly Wurly and a pack of Minstrels.

Still, if it's good enough for Slaughters... The firm which sends us the best sweets will get a glowing mention in next week's edition. Please send your offering to the Bribery Department, RollOnFriday Limited, Hamilton House, 1 Temple Avenue, London, EC4Y 0HA. A quick poll at the office suggests that you a few bars of salted chocolate and Turkish delight could do the trick.

*"With all candidates, we look carefully at their CVs and take into account a wide variety of factors in assessing everyone who approaches us."

An eagle-eyed observer would notice the reporter's howler of suggesting a LinkedIn post is a tweet.
