A criminal barrister who went on the run after sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl has been disbarred.

Leicester lawyer Desmond Rosario practised at Paradise Chambers, which has since closed. In November 2013 Rosario visited the home of a woman he knew and, while she slept on the sofa, gave her 15-year-old daughter a back massage. Later, the girl complained to her mother that during the massage the 46-year-old sexually assaulted her.

Rosario was questioned under police caution, but subsequently failed to appear for a court date. A warrant was issued for his arrest, at which point Rosario fled abroad and hid in Holland, Turkey, Cyprus and Canada. A month later, after being featured on Crimewatch, he was arrested at Birmingham Airport.

"He also fails to warm up the oils"

During his trial at Leicester Crown Court the barrister, who was called to the Bar by Inner Temple in 1990, claimed his victim must have dreamt he assaulted her. But he was found guilty and is currently serving a four year prison sentence, where he may receive more massages than he would like.

A Bar Standards Board disciplinary tribunal has now ordered him to be disbarred. BSB Director of Professional Conduct Sara Jagger said a criminal conviction for sexual assault "is clearly incompatible with the high standards expected of the Bar".

Great. More racist reporting. Where does it mention whether the girl is white and, if so, the fact that she was the beneficiary of white privilege?

For the avoidance of doubt, anon at 6:56 wasn't me. However, am I the only one who would think long and hard about instructing a set called "Paradise Chambers"? Sounds more like a porn star name.

I worked in an international law firm in the City where the male partners sexually harassed their female associates. Rather than the females being protected the law firm protected its partners by "paying-off" the women to leave the firm and not to take action against them. Ah, that's one way to clean up the mess.... ????

There is a partner in my home town who requires his female associate to manually "relieve" him when he's working long hours. Nobody says anything because its so hard to find jobs in law these days. So much power abuse in these organisations.
