Observers at Southwark Crown Court have been transfixed by the lurid allegations in the trial of barrister Jonathan Simpson and his wife Katherine Simpson, who is the head of real estate at London firm Pemberton Greenish. He is on trial for stalking his ex-lover, and this week has been accused of shouting about anal sex outside her home, while his wife is alleged to have called the woman "a fucking chav". She also testified that the woman gave her herpes.

Simpson has been charged with breaching a restraining order taken out by his ex-mistress, while both he and his wife have been accused of stalking the woman when the affair ended. Last week RollOnFriday reported how their alleged campaign of "embarrassment and threats" against the woman included attempting to hand out explicit leaflets about the single mother at her son's school gates.

This week, it has emerged that when police visited the couple to interview them on the record, Katherine Simpson told them her husband had been "trapped by a fucking chav". The court heard that she repeatedly called the woman a "bunny boiler" and said it was "astonishing that I have not been round her house and kicked her front door down and smashed her face in". Testifying in court, she admitted that she had had a drink beforehand. And then proceeded to explain that the woman had given her herpes via her husband.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Simpson has testified that during the affair he was "like a crack addict" going back for more. According to a RollOnFriday source at the court, the prosecution has alleged that on one occasion after the relationship broke down, he turned up drunk at the woman’s house, "making claims about anal sex", before walking away "muttering, ‘stirring the porridge, stirring the porridge'".
