A pensioner has complained after a firm of solicitors insulted her when she asked them to act against a dentist.

73-year-old Brenda Kerr of Bexhill in Sussex, met with local firm Gaby Hardwicke Solicitors after she claimed that a dentist had overcharged her for repairing her false teeth. What should have been a simple fix had ended up costing her £500. The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman had rejected her claim, but she still had some fight left in her.

A month after the meeting Ms Kerr had heard nothing, so she wrote to GHS and asked if it would take her case. The firm returned her file, which included an attendance note of her meeting in which she was described as "a complete nightmare" and "incredibly strident".

They forgot to take that out and that’s absolutely appalling to talk like that behind my back,” Ms Kerr told the Bexhill Observer. “I went to them in good faith expecting them to sort my case out for me... They have shot themselves in the foot".

A spokesman for the firm declined to comment.
