A Tokyo Court has sentenced a former law student for cutting off a lawyer's penis.

Ikki Kotsugai, an accomplished boxer, attacked the lawyer at his firm in August 2015. Kotsugai charged into the lawyer's room, punched him in the face repeatedly, snipped off his penis with shears and then flushed it down the lavatory. The penis was never recovered despite the sewers being searched, in what was likely to have been the worst job going in Tokyo that day.

"Welcome to your internship with the Tokyo police. Would you like to search for a penis in sewage?"
At the trial, Kotsugai said that he found out that the lawyer had been shagging his wife. He added that he could not control his anger since he thought the lawyer raped his wife. However, the court concluded that the sex was consensual.

The prosecutor told the court that the "bizarre and cruel" crime had left the victim without his reproductive functions, and that he suffers "physical and psychological pain" daily.

The presiding judge sentenced Kotsugai to four and a half years in prison. Kotsugai said that he had "deep regret" over the matter, and the feeling was probably mutual with his victim.

Kotsugai is not the first law student to have caused controversy over a penis related incident.

Four years seems extremely light for this crime: he's ruined someone else's life. Surely something closer to 8-10 years would have been more appropriate.

Must have been upset by comments on his drafting, that or he just got his pay rise a la Slaughter's.
