A Shearman & Sterling associate is suing Airbnb and an ex-underwear model because her flat had a dirty windowsill and he couldn't stand to live there for more than one night.

38-year-old Christian Pugaczewski booked the one-bedroom apartment in New York City for three months from Lyndsey Scott, a former Victoria's Secret model. Listed on Airbnb as a "Comfortable Spatious Island Retreat", the flat's description boasted of "fashionable decor for a comfy yet modern vibe", all "only 10 minutes from Times Square". The listing didn't specify in which building the flat was located and included photos showing the bedroom decked out like a pleather mental asylum, but Pugaczewski booked it anyway.

Assuming it was in an exclusive block, he reserved the flat for three months for $9,000 and paid a $3,000 deposit. But the night before arriving he discovered that the property was actually located in a nearby complex of housing which was once federally-subsidised. Ugh. “I stayed there one night and left immediately,” said the horrified little prince.

Pugaczewski is now suing AirBnB and Scott for renting him a place which was "materially different from the property portrayed”. Not only did the apartment once house poor people whose ghastly stink still clings to the walls, but, according to his lawsuit, “there was paint peeling", cockroach traps, and "grime and dirt on the window sill and on the air conditioner". There were also holes in the floor, "covered up by strategically-placed bar stools”.

Exhibit one: spyholes for one-eyed plebs to stare up Pugaczeski's trouser leg

Exhibit two: fittings which were not deliberately distressed

Exhibit four: IS THAT A LITTLE SLIPPER FOR A MOUSE?

Exhibit three: Pugaczeski in an acceptably furnished room

The associate claims he had to pay $20,000 for a last minute replacement. He said Airbnb had "not been very customer friendly", and, "so I had to file this lawsuit, which has been a total nightmare”.
