A newly qualified solicitor has pleaded guilty to committing fraud after he amended an expired parking permit with a felt tip pen.

Last year the 25-year-old parked his car in Southsea before getting the ferry to his job as a trainee solicitor on the Isle of Wight. An attendant at the car park noticed that something seemed amiss with the NQ's permit and reported it to his superiors. An investigation found that he had used a marker pen to extend the expiry date shown on the card.
 

Lovely job

The lawyer originally claimed that he had only written on the permit after he accidentally spilt water on it. But this week he admitted six dishonesty charges at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court. Magistrate Alan Key sent the case to Portsmouth Crown Court as "the offences are beyond our remit for sentencing".

The cheeky parker qualified as a solicitor in February this year and is now an in-house lawyer. His own lawyer said that he faces losing is job and "there really has been a big price to pay".
