Police investigating a drugs ring in Northern Ireland have raided Hebert Smith Freehills' Belfast office.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) searched the firm's Cromac Quay office on Wednesday where, they said, "a number of items were removed for further examination". It followed the arrest of a 30-year-old man on suspicion of possession of class A drugs in the Ladybrook area of west Belfast. He was interviewed and released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police also seized John, who liked to arrive early to take advantage of the peace and quiet.

HSF's Belfast office opened in 2011 as an off-shoring operation to process high-volume work at a lower cost. It now has over 240 staff comprising qualified lawyers, support staff and 'El Demonio', an intense paralegal whose chair is a throne made of money bricks.

Neither the PSNI nor the firm would confirm whether the arrested man is an HSF employee and would not elaborate on what was seized. A spokeswoman for Herbies confirmed that police "are investigating an incident in our Belfast office", but said "We are not able to comment further at this point due to the ongoing investigation".
