The Dean and CEO of BPP University has quit, the latest of many to leave the legal education provider.

Peter Crisp told staff last week that he was stepping down and this Friday will be his final day. BPP said that Crisp "has decided that it is now the right time for him to move on" and that Andrew Chadwick, the current Deputy Dean, would take over as acting Dean.

It follows the shock departure in March of BPP's Vice Chancellor Carl Lygo and means that within the last 18 months, BPP has lost its CFO, COO and CEO. In February a private equity consortium bought BPP's owner, Apollo Education Group, for $1.1 billion. It is now the proud owner of an executive board which is rapidly filling up with acting bosses.

"It's just me now and I'll be honest, I'm more of a figurehead."

Crisp, a qualified barrister and culture vulture, joined BPP in 1997 as a tutor on the Bar Vocational Course. He is widely credited with building the law school into a dominant force in legal education. Under his tenure it became the major law firms' favourite and dozens sent their future trainees through BPP's GDL and LPC.

Crisp said, “I have been exceptionally fortunate in my career at the Law School and feel especially privileged to have worked with wonderful clients, students and colleagues". He added, “I have been very lucky to have witnessed the amazing journey of the Law School and I move on with very happy memories”.
