The RollOnFriday Firm of the Year 2018 survey is open.

FOTY is the definitive poll of the legal profession's satisfaction, and RollOnFriday invites everyone from solicitors to associates to trainees to NQs to partners to paralegals to PAs to rate their firm's pay, management, culture, work-life balance and, crucially, its loos and snacks.

The firm with the highest rating is crowned the RollOnFriday Firm of the Year. The worst is dinged with the infamous Golden Turd.

Seven tickboxes. Plus leave a comment if you can, we like them.

Last year over 4,900 responses were gratefully received. Burges Salmon triumphed and KWM RIP took the Golden Turd.

Now a new trophy has been lovingly mongered and the same tin log has been buffed up. All RollOnFriday needs is for you, yes you, to decide which goes where and who comes inbetween.

The full rankings are used all year by thousands of people, so you're helping the world really. Well done. It's also a platform to anonymously say what's good and what's bad at your firm, so vent a spleen or give some love as appropriate.

RollOnFriday has no paywall, no planned pivot to video and will not come to you cup in hand for donations amounting to the price of an artisanal coffee. Instead, just rate your firm. The results will be announced in January. Thank you.

Just a thought... how do you stop people from saying that they're from Firm X when actually they're at Firm Y and just trying to get Firm X the Golden Turd?

BLM must be a shoo-in for the Golden Turd. You've got to admit they've been prepared to go the extra mile for it this year.........

Don't worry. Everyone that's jumped ship from BLM has got better things to do with their time than pretend that they still work there...

Although I'm sure those that have been unceremoniously made redundant and are yet to find jobs are probably entitled to make their views clear.

I really feel BLM should get a special award this year for contributions to effective leadership. Sorry, I meant defective leadership. Maybe a golden toilet with a turd being flushed down it?

Golden Turd CMS with special mention to Nabarro and Olwang Partners for joining the shoddy outfit

While I am more than happy for BLM to receive the award of Golden Turd (should that be in capital letters, probably not), it should be borne in mind, most of the employees are great and shouldn't be "tarred and feathered with the same brush".

Irwin Mitchell thoroughly deserve to win the Golden Turd again this year. Exceptionally poor management. Catastrophic partners across the PI divisions. This year they have even resorted to making trainees accept qualification jobs before they will sign off any time to count applications to ensure their retention figures appear as high as possible. A firm that holds its employees to ransom.

Totally agree with Irwin Mitchell comments. Awful firm with chaotic management. Completely understand why staff are leaving en masse.

Winner has to be PI firm cutting back further than usual in light of Jackson reforms. By the looks of the comments and the firm’s general reputation in the legal market, I would say Irwin Mitchell stand a fair chance at the Golden Turd.

Volume factories tend to score low. These tend to be the insurance litigation outfits working on high volume throughput to achieve slim margins. Typically these involve fixed fees and tend to have a defendant bias.

Firms with large insurers appointing them as panel defendant EL/PL case handlers will always circle around the drain when it comes to the Golden Turd.

CMS/Nabs/Olswang for the sheer stupidity still going on 8 months on from the 'merger'........plenty of turds running around looking clueless.......

Is no one going to mention Hill Dickinson in the comments - 2016 Golden Turd winners (Losers?) They've faired no better this year having to sell a £25 million turn over per annum quarter of their business to rivals Keoghs (of dirty protest fame) for a poultry £9 million all because their business analysis messed up an £8million new system implementation. Add to that that they can't afford to put an employee on the front desk (A G4S guard in place no less!) and we can all see that HD won't exist in 2019.....

Looks like a straight fight between BLM & Irwin Mitchell. Clash of the titans! Who will triumph in the cesspit of non tranquility? Coming soon..... It's almost like a film trailer.

Yeah, but all the stuff about BLM this year is 'fake news'. I mean have you seen any mention of the goings on there appearing on their website or in their social media streams....? (NOT!!!!)
