Lyons Davidson has posted a £3m loss for the last financial year. Turnover also fell from £44.47m to £41.9m.

The firm has been perenially unlucky. It made two rounds of redundancies within nine months back in 2013. It set up a joint venture with the AA to provide advice for members involved in traffic accidents, but that seems to have gone by the wayside within two years. One of its trainees was convicted of animal cruelty after leaving her dog to starve to death in a locked house for four weeks, and recently one of its office managers was convicted of filming his coworkers making stool. And the firm's partners must have been browning their trousers themselves this week with the announcement of such woeful financials.

The firm is suffering such hardship that it is clearly unable to run to a press office - all communications from RollOnFriday went unanswered. But the Gazette managed to get hold of Managing Partner Mark Savill, who claimed that the shonky figures were a result of investment and reorganisation, and that the future looked promising. "We have been implementing a strategy to mitigate the changing profile of our work over the last 12 months, which has meant making some challenging changes to our business. These developments are delivering positive results and have put us in a strong position for the future."

Hmmm. What about the forthcoming Civil Liability Bill, which will restrict fees that can be recovered from road traffic accidents? RollOnFriday is putting its money on LD being handed its arse on a plate.

LD does bulk cheap legal costs insurance work, which as far as I can tell from my own experience incentivises them to turn away as many claims as possible. God, I hate legal costs insurers.

I worked at this joint nearly ten years ago. What a complete and utter crap law firm it is. When people were elated at getting a training contract most of the staff who knew the score held the opinion ‘oh no you poor person’.

Good riddance!
