Two legal recruiters have swapped bizarre allegations after one appeared as a defendant charged with abusive behaviour on the railway. Luke Rehbein admitted announcing to commuters that his ex-colleague was a thief, but plead not guilty on the basis that the other legal recruiter repeatedly called his mum a "tosser".

Rehbein and Daniel John had worked together at Dawn Ellmore Employment until John resigned in February 2016. His departure was acrimonious and Dawn Ellmore, who as well as running the business is Rehbein's mother, subsequently accused John of taking two notebooks containing client information and of locking staff out of a company computer containing 2,500 business contacts. 

Unfortunately all three continued to share the same route to work, and in March last year Rehbein confronted John on the 7.39am train at Gidea Park. Hammersmith Magistrates Court was shown CCTV footage of  23-year-old Rehbein standing in front of John and speaking to the rest of the carriage. The court heard that Rehbein clapped his hands and announced to the 30 or so other commuters, "Good morning ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to take a moment of your time to tell you that this man sitting here is a criminal and a thief, so keep an eye on your handbags, wallets and phones because he will strike again". Rehbein allegedly repeated the claims about John further up the carriage. John said he felt "humiliated" and another passenger, an employee at Holman Fenwick Willan, said he looked "mortified".

  The gritty Brady Bunch reboot features a lot more cold calling and bell-ringing than the original.

Taking the stand, Rehbein said that he confronted John because the other legal recruiter "yawned and called my mother a tosser" on the platform. Rehbein alleged that it was part of a campaign of intimidation in which a few days earlier John had appeared next to him and his mother while they were waiting for another train at Liverpool Street Station and "called my mother a tosser". He said the day before the Gidea Park incident John bumped into them at Liverpool Street Station and "called my mother a tosser again".

Against this murky background of tosser claims, the court dismissed the charges against Rehbein. But at least the case proved that two Dawn Ellmore Employment employees actually exist, after RollOnFriday discovered that it had created fake members of staff with stock images and photos of temps

Ellmore told RollOnFriday, "The court's decision to throw out Daniel John's complaint wholly exonerates Luke and brings to an end a difficult and stressful period for us all. Mr John's allegations were found to be unfounded and the case should never have been brought. We look forward to putting this behind us and continuing with our lives". And getting back to endorsing fictional characters.

I think most of us are amazed to read that there are actually two real people involved in this "business" what a down market agency

Just read the Glassdoor reviews (not the fake one's) to see what kind of business Dawn and co are running.

Surely no candidate would knowingly engage such an Agency as this. Laughable and unprofessional. I would presume any Firm would surely have to consider entering into any form of contract with them. This original article was discussed by members at our firm and decided about using them moving forward.
