Slaughter and May has smuggled the promise of sodomy into training materials in the most Slaughter and May way possible.

Its placeholder text for powerpoint presentations is made up of nonsense Latin. But at least one Slaughter and May lawyer has spotted that the 'Contents' slide includes the word 'Pedicabo'. Pedicabo is the future tense of 'Pedico' and means 'I will commit sodomy'. It was most famously used by the poet Catullus, in particular in the challenging opening line of Carmen 16, "Pedicabo ego vos et irrumabo" ("I will sodomise you and [google it, it really is very, very rude]").

Probably should have stuck with Lorem Ipsum.

A source at the elite firm said, "I'm disappointed such an august institution doesn't know its Latin - or maybe it's a deliberate reminder to its lawyers to expect a good shafting from behind". 

RollOnFriday asked Slaughter and May if its strategy to separate the sheep from the goats, by giving those with a classical education the opportunity to leave before chapter 4, had worked. But a spokesman said, "It was not inserted by us but came as part of the software package which we purchased several years ago". And yet none of the partners spotted it. For shame. He said the offending word had now been removed.
