A junior associate at Norton Rose Fulbright has won $35 million on the Canadian lottery.

Andrea Campbell won the jackpot in the 17 January draw of Ontario's Lotto 6/49 with her boyfriend. A second year solicitor in the corporate department of the firm's Toronto office, she scooped $35,164,526.30. But there's no need for UK lawyers to be jealous, because in sterling the win amounts to a paltry £18.2m.

Campbell bought the winning ticket ten minutes from her office at a grocery store. It may be the last time she nips out from an all-nighter for a Flake and a dream, as the newly-minted multi-millionaire has immediately taken a year-long sabbatical. Norton Rose Fulbright doesn't appear very confident that she will be back at the end of it, as it has already removed her profile from the firm's website.

Good for her. She should stay at the firm and instruct the private client team to look after the dosh. Being both an employee and a wealthy private client will completely screw with the partners' heads!
