if you were given a new assistant

and HR refused to tell you anything about her (just give her a call!), would you be concerned/annoyed?

They have not even confirmed the working pattern or whether she needs any reasonable adjustments.

Am I being too much of a control freak?

Mind you, the best diary secretaries and spreadsheet assistants will likely be highly organised capable types - usually irrelevant if they have a bunch of highers or not.  There's probably nothing HR could usefully have told you!

And GDPR... no one understands it.  Especially HR.  Everyone thinks it applies to everything all the time.  DONT LOOK AT MY USERNAME damn you have just breached GDPR. You owe me 20mil.

I especially like the nod to europe instead of referring it DPA18.

there is a big HR function anyway (for some reason HR never seem to get advice from actual employment lawyers? I guess why would they need to when they have been to all those seminar breakfasts!)

Only the Scottish ones and not mocking them, but the joke shop system their country operates.

Ahhhh....  that old Chestnut.  As the educational system in England has such a good reputation, compared to that in Scotland...  Oh, wait...

Yes yes yes.  Has been a long time since I roffed.  I had forgotten that the usual internet rules of grammar are disapplied, and that I should behave myself.  So yes, you are all very smart.  Go to Greggs and treat yourselves to a cake.

By the way, I was surprised when I logged on to meet this new hamster.  I'm sure it has been discussed at length.

i remember being given the final two to meet when they'd been whittled down.

i came back out of the meeting with one of the them and one of the existing PAs said

"she's obviously made a real effort, she's got great boobs. NO BOOTS, I MEANT BOOTS".

to be fair to the PA, the interviewee had indeed got great boots on but you'd only notice because you were trying very very hard not to stare at her great boobs.
