It emerged this week that Trowers' Senior Partner, who is in charge of the secretarial redundancy programme at the firm, has got through five of them herself in under 12 months.
Jennie Gubbins is pushing through what is currently a voluntary redundancy programme for an undisclosed number of secretaries. Which is somewhat ironic given her apparent addiction to them. A spokeswoman said that Gubbins had a number of temporary secretaries while recruiting a full time PA, who then lasted in the job for six months, before moving on to her current secretary "who has been with the firm for a number of years".
Some lawyers at the firm have complained that they are worried about levels of support going forwards. Others have said that the redundancies are entirely reasonable and the firm has been over-secretaried. But there appears to be unanimity on the fact that the whole process has been badly managed and poorly communicated. A crisis meeting was held with the secretaries last Thursday in a bid to try and clarify things, but it's still unknown how many are for the chop or whether compulsory redundancies will be called for.
The spokeswoman said that "discussions regarding voluntary redundancies are on-going and we will not be commenting further at this stage".

You are clearly a Trowers stooge. Only at Trowers do comments critical of the Firm get met with vocabulary and grammar put-downs. Same stuff happened on The Lawyer a year or two ago in another thread critical of Trowers (oh where does the possessive apostrophe go?) redundancies. Grow up - we are talking about peoples' jobs.

I think you mean people's jobs.

I also recommend looking up the thread on Trowers at The Lawyer. I recall some reference by a supporter of Trowers to lawyers who had been made "redundant" telling them they deserved it because they didn't know the possessive apostrophe rules and that therefore they would be better off employed at Burger King. Classic arrogance.
