A law student has demanded a lifetime supply of Kitkats from Nestlé after she bought a pack of eight which did not contain any wafer.
Saima Ahmad, a second year student at Kings College London, wrote to the company when she discovered to her horror that the bars in her £2 multipack were all solid chocolate. In her letter, she claimed her loss had "emotional and monetary significance".
The student told ITN news she "wouldn't rule out taking the matter further" if Nestlé failed to apologise or provide her with adequate compensation, but that, "an unlimited supply of KitKats would do". She also insisted that she would never get bored of KitKats, because "they are my favourite chocolate bars. I love them". The type 2 diabetes candidate admitted "I'm trying my luck - if you don't ask you don't get".
Ahmad might consider swapping her allegiance from KitKats to Tunnock's not dissimilar Caramel Wafers. Lawyers at Pinsent Masons, which acts for the confectioner and stocks the snack in its meeting rooms, told RollOnFriday's Firm of the Year 2016 survey that if Tunnock's bars "won't get you through a 73-hour mediation, nothing will".*
Nestlé failed to respond to a request for comment. Thomas Tunnock, on the other hand, told RollOnFriday, "We welcome all new customers".
*Dear Tunnock's, please send complimentary hamper of teacakes and caramel wafers to RollOnFriday, Hamilton House, 1 Temple Avenue, London EC4Y 0HA
