96 deaths today

Let the bodies pile high :)

My freedom to be maskless and not have a sweaty uncomfortable face is more important than your granny's extra six months of life. Glad we have a PM who gets this tbh.

I'm happy to say £5 to charity that we don't see more than 70,000 cases in a day or more than 200 deaths in a day and that it starts to drop before the August bank holiday.

No, but kids' right to a proper education and millions of people's rights not to face destitution because their jobs are gone and the economy in free fall are probably worth an extra six months of life for the elderly.

Still only 4.6k covid patients in hospital, and from the numbers they are staying nowhere near as long as before.  Miles to go before any new lockdown is required

Lockdowns are a totally political decision. They are not inevitable or unavoidable. Trying to read the runes is pointless because at some point the fat pudding at the head of govt will be bullied into announcing one and it will not matter what the data says at that time.

I say enjoy life while you can because nothing you do or don’t do now will make any difference. The social contract governing this country is broken under this administration and I do not feel duty bound to comply with it any more.

Yes it's just like last summer except a totally different playing field with different rules so a bit like playing football last summer but hockey this summer and saying they're the same.

I cannot see any realistic threat of the harm from covid being greater than the harm of lockdown.   Unless a new strain emerges that makes the vaccines ineffective I will oppose any future lockdown or restrictions.  We really need to get over the covid obsession.  Test ill people, if positive ask them to stay home.  Otherwise crack on.

Fair enough. They caught up all the ones they missed that Monday on Tuesday 21 July 2020, when 20 people died with covid. All unvaccinated."

Are you - again - suggesting that vaccines don't work ?

I don’t think we’ll see another lockdown tbh.

Masking might be made compulsory again but I don’t count that as a “restriction” tbh

Lot of lols at the campaign by the scousers who were, let's be clear, entirely right to keep banging on about it. Very easy for those unaffected to say "golly gosh, well it happened but don't make a scene, best to move on!". Shine a light on these things and get the record straight.

If only the authorities hadn’t tried to cover up their negligence in the deaths and, even worse, blame the deceased then there wouldn’t have been anything for the 96 groups to complain about. They’ve been proved to have been entirely right in their assertions.

Amen.

Typical bloody Scousers refusing to let the deaths of their children due to the bungling of the authorities and subsequent cover-up by the authorities go. Nice Southern people would have just moved on.  I mean who really cares if your kid or husband or brother was crushed to death in an entirely avoidable tragedy.

I'm genuinely intrigued as to what people expect the government to do?

Every adult has been offered a vaccine. The vast majority of those in hospital refused to be vaccinated.

We now just need to get on with life and learn to live with covid without f$cking the economy even more.

My guess is they wouldn't want to release any breakdown like that because people will freak out that many (or probably most) of the deaths are double vaxxed people, and massively misuse that info.

If 96 people in their 20s or 30s were dying it would be a huge story, so you have to assume it's mostly olds who are weak enough to be carried off by even vax-mitigated COVID.

I also suspect it's the old dying with covid thing again.  They've gone into hospital because of another health condition and have been tested and found to have rather mild vuvu before dying from whatever put them in hospital in the first place.

Would be interested in the data (coz I luvs data), but the real focus needs to be on hospital admissions and ICU bed occupied.

745 admitted, 4500 in patients currently.   611 in ventilated beds.

So that basically lines up when the hospital stress seen on 18 October.

Then there were 178 deaths, but only 18,000 cases.

if covid is getting more Killy despite lockdowns, vaccines, restrictions and everything else then frankly we will just have to either live or die 🤷🏻‍♀️

it's much less killy.  Vaccines work at making it less killy (and a bit less spready).  Lockdowns work at making it less spready and, by effluxion of time, fewer killies. I prefer vaccines to lockdowns.  As do you, I think.

If the spready get to a point that the killies are happening because hospitals cannot pump the o2 in, we need a lockdown.  I don't think that will happen (we'd need to get to 225k cases daily), and I think people will voluntarily hide under rocks if it gets that spready.  Plus you've a proper absences of fuel (people) to spread it, because whole areas will be burned through.
