The assumption behind this thread is that politicians at least occasionally do something which can be called “running the country”.
It’s sweet that people still believe in fairy stories, but the Civil Service runs the country and does it bloody well too. That’s why the UK isn’t a basket case like The Ukraine or Egypt.
Politicians just mess around debating things, telling lies and messing things up for short term electoral gain.
The state of politics in the UK and US at the mo evokes a nursery in which the toddlers have been allowed to go on the rampage while the adults' backs are turned. I really hope we have a responsible adult somewhere who can reestablish control. There are serious issues at stake in world and democracies have not got their shit together.
