This thread is making me think of teenage  years when I would buy Newcastle brown ale with friends and drink it in the park

Going t  try the duck. Newcastle is delightful today.

Mean Eyed Cat is also a good shout but is a bit further from Monument; also Town Mouse.  For more of a trad pub The Bacchus but the beer selection is better at any of the previous three, especially for a craft fan.

Been there a couple of times before city at st James. Always a good welcome.
