I think this is a result of the "dickheads vote to leave something then cheesed of about consequential rules" principle of international law.

If you expect people to bow to His Majesty, stay in the UK (or rather, parts of the UK).
Also, "a validly issued document from His Majesty" is not older than 10 years. It would have been issued by Her Majesty, back when times were good.

It clearly enures to the benefit of Her Majesty’s permitted successors and assigns.

funny how this story resurfaces every year now and people still get surprised.

This was a thing last year and we got new passports to deal with it. We warned some friends about it who had to drive to Newport the next day or two for an express service. It can’t impact that many people but I guess this ‘news’ is designed to help

Wait until the autumn when we have to give biometric details and Dover gums up again, then you’ll see proper outrage.

Surely it only impacts really organised people who renew their passports well before they expire rather than panicking with a month left to get it done?

It's not really a brexit thing, I think pre brexit if wasn't enforced because you had a separate right to be in the schengen area so you didn't feel it but I think a fair number of countries have a "passport can be issued for max 10 years and needs 6 months validity" rules
I don't recall if the brexit agreement cut this to 3 months for the EU or if it is country by country
anyway, yeah it's a pigs arse and comes as a surprise but on the upside the uk passport office if one of the few things the tories haven't fcuked into the ground

absolutely no justification for disliking any of my posts on this thread. All selfliked for balance.

This is a disgrace and these people are right to be outraged at the ruination of their holidays - a meaningful contribution to EU GDP, remember - by the bustling euronerds. Representations should be made at the highest level and gunboats sent if necessary
