France have been in a bit of disarray behind the scenes, so maybe they won’t be quite as strong as would be expected.
Obviously want England to win, but if we are to lose let it be a real stuffing so the nasty gnome is finally given loads of grief by his sycophants in the media.
And just because Puffing Billy makes a few easy yards on kick returns, let’s not have a load of bollix about well he’s now playing...
I think france but I so badly want to say england!
I also think it's a sackable offence for England to only beat Italy in a 6n. That hasn't happened yet and even if it does, can't see eddie actually being sacked.
Always love Le Crunch! Been to Stade a number of times - copped a load of abuse there on a number of occasions but also had some great experiences with french fans. Just a shame Stade is the middle of a run down industrial estate! Obviously irrelevant given its Twickenham.
France are superb to watch when they play like this.
After 20 minutes of good discipline England have given a few penalties away again. Particularly when attacking - England were well inside Frances half and found themselves defending a line-out just outside their own 22 for that try.
fantastic game to watch, but let’s face it of the two teams, if ur picking one likely to win wc2023, the almost perfectly executed rolling with the punches france have my bet
Oracle - maybe, but they’ve faded badly in every game I’ve seen so far. As long as they aren’t out of sight after 50 mins you’ve got a chance against them
i reckon that’s an age thing jy. their average age is probably in marshall hall’s ideal female range
so with experience over the next two years they’ve got huge potential. potential, mind, so they’re still not there yet, but they have some astonishingly hood young’uns
dunno why people r not backing watson for motm - pretty much every time we got any points came from him making a break
absent watson we would have been toothless. curry and itoje excellent in contact, much improved on discipline - but we nearly lost this game because of a lack of creativity and ball carriers getting isolated due to our back row not being mobile enough
England played two very different styles from half to half, it worked and I will applaud that. They have lacked that for a number of games, maybe years, changing the way they play during a match. A fabulous win, and one I hope will give the squad and the RFU a boost.
It was England's best performance of the tournament by a distance, full of endeavour and flashes of clinical execution, with Henry Slade and Tom Curry excelling.
England's bench were making a real difference, especially Elliot Daly who glided into space with ease armed with a point to prove after being dropped for Malins.
Youngs had a good game Rog, Farrell made his kicks but same old 'tackle high get bumped off' defence. Billy did not have a good game, he barely carried forpositive yardage and was getting stopped or pushed back by individual defenders.
Agree with Spurius. England were much better and deserved to win imo, but hamstrung somewhat again by indiscipline in attack in the second half. Will make a world of difference if they can improve that.

I won't be surprised if we get smashed but I doubt Eddie will go.

Eddie and Farrell going nowhere whatever the result.
But I've got France by 10+ Geoff.

I think we will win this but it will be close. 3 points in it.

That was an absolute electric start from France. Absolutely brilliant, nearly broke the line a few times. England were all over the shop.

Slade owes us a big game. Been v quiet recently, albeit with a donkey inside him.

If they carry on not competing at the breakdown and don't get stupid elsewhere, they'll score 35. Whether that's enough, who knows.

Malins already done more in defence than Daly did in 3 games

And attack - one optimistic pass aside.

Well yeah, he made a tackle! Very positive start from Malins.

Isn't england's defensive patterns based on having either Curry or Billy in the back field? So yes, should be about 25m behind the play.

Curry is everywhere
0

Billy is way off the pace.
0

Curry is having to do the jobs of 2 back-rows to compensate for his slothful 8.

I'd put Earl to 6 and Wilson to 8 I think. Billy just a waste of a spot at the mo.

We look great with ball in hand.
Why in gods name are F&F now kicking it away aimlessly all the time?
0

Bet you Jones doesn’t pull him off.
He’ll then claim that at the end of the 6N next week that Puffing Billy is finally up to speed...🤪
0

Maybe Puffing Billy had been pulling Eddie off... That is why he stays in the team.

Curry could play 8 easily - i think he is second choice 8 anyway.
I like Wilson as he is so solid but he is no Underhill.

Eng look quite dangerous from high kicks tbf
France’s backs look v dangerous though, old school elan

The timing of the commentators praising Billy could not have been better - reckon they ROF?
Similarly, Malins needs to stop giving pens away.

That's an absolute class game of rugby.
So much more fun when england are allowed to play. Regardless of result.

Felt more like the England of old.
less pointless kicking, fewer stupid penalties.
still too many missed tackles though

France didn’t bother coming out for the 2nd half

Step in the right direction. Still room for much improvement. I don't understand why we continually kick away good possession.

Eddie Jones is vindicated.... Sign him up until the 2027 World Cup...

We need a decent beef second row (Attwood?), an 8 who is either a decent ball carrier or otherwise threatening, and Farrell gone.
0

Itoje and Curry were the only MOM calls for England surely.
0

Much better,
Nasty Eddie and Puffing Billy basically rescued by Super Maro.
Still so much wrong with his selection. Marcus Smith should be at 10 quite obviously.

Rog - for a first start he did well.
You have to give him a decent % of the chances that Daly has been given over the last 5 years.

played a roll in the build up to the try

Daly was good when he came on - but game had broken up by then.
Lots of stupid penalties by the usual suspects.
Good game from Billy, Youngs and Farrell. Felt slade was good as well, although why he jumped out of line for second french try is beyond me.
I think I'm happier with england actually playing some fun rugby than the result. Love watching Watson in full flight.

Very good game of rugby.
England had at least four forays into the French 22 in the second half where they lost the ball - three holding on and an obstruction. Probably more.
French tailed off badly in the second half apart from their defence which held up. England could have won by a lot more.
