Have the Tories

Screwed the country so absolutely & utterly that it is now impossible for Labour to fix more than 5% of the damage, so failure is inevitable.

if you get rid of all the stupid tory vanity projects, devolve decision making, get a grip on the relationship with Europe, reform the tax system and focus on key public services you can probably undo the catastrophic decline within 4-5 years and coast to a second parliament

you might also want to approve the sale of the spectator just to see andrew neil blow a gasket, but you'd have to listen to 6 months of him banging on about how the new magazine he's setting up with litigious thin skin Toby Yung isn't going to be a mad conspiracy rage and then listen to him try to justify how he couldn't have known it would be a mad conspiracy rag when he was fired 3 weeks in

so question whether that bit is worth it, but on the state of the nation thing, stability, a lack of absolute weapons grade mentalists and an actual plan go a long way

labour’s most important job in government is to allow the FBPE classes a psychological escape from their shrieking self-loathing

they don’t have to do much to provide that genuine service to the nation

they're not "vanity" projects, they're a method to funnel your money into their pockets.

I really can't wait to find out who they've signed an agreement with for the flights to Rwanda.  What does that agreement entail, guaranteed payments regardless of whether there's a flight or not.

Labour can get the economy growing again by reaching a sensible deal with Europe.  There is a lot of pent up growth stymied by the barriers with Europe and releasing it could have quite a dramatic impact over the next few years.  This in turn should allow us to afford significant improvements to public services.

The electorate will expect public services to improve to the extent that they can seee the improvement. Going to be a difficult thing to perceptively change, unless there's absolutely massive public sector investment during the period of the next government.

pinkus the last labour government dramatically and palpably improved public services in particular in respect of health and primary education.   There is no reason why a new labour government cannot do the same thing by a combination of  judicious property taxes (property is woefully under taxed in this country), the lower costs of borrowing once the charlatans are gone and the reverse brexit dividend.

THE IDEA THAT ANYONE COULD DO A BETTER JOB OF GOVERNING THIS COUNTRY THAN THE PARTY THAT GAVE US PRIME MINISTER BORIS JOHNSON AND PRIME MINISTER LIZ TRUSS IS LAUGHABLE!!

the idea that both parties are the same simply because Labour is understandably cautious about signalling its policy intentions (see the Don Dom issue) is the last desperate throw of the dice of a government that is definitely finished and a party that may well also be finished.

Pinkus - I really do think the electorate will be happy (in the early days at least) with us not being run by obvious crooks and repeatedly punching ourselves in the face as a country.

yeah but the tories have pushed the bar so low

at this point if Labour can get ambulances to turn up the same day they are called they'll be considered miracle workers

I hope they make the requisite investment. It concerns me that they're stating they're going to stick to the Tory fiscal rules, which seems like madness given the years of austerity.

I know this is going to sound hopelessly naive but I really do think there will be quite a big improvement in public services just as people who work in the public sector get the sense there are better days ahead/light at the end of the tunnel and morale lifts.  There is real entrenched resentment at the moment at the way they have been treated.   Just moving away from the hatred between the civil service and government will help a lot.

Starmer is managing expectations very heavily and it is going to be a long road out of this sh1t but it will get better.

Interest rates should start to drop next year as well.

Yes. 5% per term.

But as they are guaranteed megamadges for 20 terms, it’s all good.

Labour might get a second term. Might. But that'll be their lot. Joe public prefers Tory overlords under the current system

The biggest change will be not being told what to do by a bunch of bankers. That will land pretty well imho. And obvs they’re more relatable. Look at the state of the milf tories channelling the GOP nutters. No more of that. Upstart second gen economic migrants like Fvcking Suella, The Bad Enoch, and ofc Prime Miniature whining away at us we should marry our cousin. No more of that. Head Boy Hunt delivering sermons from the reverse cowgirl mount as if nobody’s got any gaydar. No more of that. Oh and Pob. Nuf said. Take your poppers and sling it.

Unfortunately some very real structural and lasting damage has been done by the Conservatives.

Basic competence and decency alone will be a breath of fresh air. Unfortunately we will need the 2nd and 3rd terms to see if their mops and buckets are big enough.

Does Labour have any actual policies apart from (1) more enforced diversity, including mandatory quotas (2) more immigration (3) presumably, an extra Pride Month, and ... (4) oh, rail nationalisation.

Wouldn't hold my breath waiting for anything to be "fixed" with such policies.

Barry, you little scamp! When wishiwashi calls an election you'll see a beautiful manifesto full of policies to fix this country from all your russosuckupfúckup wet dreams.
