Labor antisemitism shame

With many socialist Jews feeling nervous and frightened attending Labor conferences, memories of Mrs Berger being frog marched out of the hall still being raw, and Jewish concerns being dismissed as 'mood music' or an attempt to stifle criticisms of Israel, the time has surely come for Starmer to stamp down hard on Labor's antisemitism

Angela Rayner's (wood!!) noisy attempt to deflect attention by calling for Johnston to 'repent himself' by apologizing for his racism, homophobia and transphobia, not really dealing with the point

The whole "Labour is a hotbed of AS" was manufactured. There was AS in Labour but the hysteria was completely out of proportion to the problem and by way of contrast, the "isms" in the Tory Party were not treated the same way.

HTH

Could we have a definitive list of people whose lived experience to be accepted and whose can be dismissed out of hand?

on the dismiss side we have:

  • Women
  • jews

any more?

The views of those that say "the data are" can be dismissed out of hand

Those to be listened to with respect include white Anglo Saxon Protestants obv

But then you knew that

Not sure there was a whole lot of anti-semetism in labour - but it was in most of the powerful and all of the vocal bits.  Looks a lot like Starmer has cleaned house and set the ship right, but I defer to any actual Jews on the board.

FFS! Are people STILL tedeing on about this? Of all the manifold things to criticise the Labour Party for, they pick the fact that a handful of their members have said some questionable things about Red Sea pedestrians.

Lived experience of what? Antisemitism?

Proof that some Jews were treated badly isn't proof that the problem was systemic or as bad as reported by the media.

Even some Jewish people seemed to struggle with identifying antisemitism as where for example Ruth Smeeth publicly accused someone of antisemitism and got it utterly wrong, ruined someones reputation and didn't even apologise.

Then there was the horse faced leader of Friends of Israel who accused someone of AS and but for the secret bbc recording it would have been a he said she said MP vs Commoner. And her accusation was baseless.

There's no doubt in my mind that AS was weaponised to for political gain. Those so doing were undermining the fight against AS and we're thus AS themselves. Again - not denying AS exists in the LP.

I have said a zillion times that there is no AS in the Labor Party

What there is is hatred of Israel ever since it joined the West

All part of Labor's core DNA of hatred of England and the US, this Aukus resolution being but the latest example

heh no no, you're not denying AS at all

----

This would be a witty retort if it had any merit. Please explain where I have denied it. I won't hold my breath.

I've always thought it unfortunate and likely counter-productive in the long run that anti-semitisim was so cynically weaponised in the fight between moderate Labour and the left-wing.  I'm not really sure it made that much difference in the end, given how barmy Corbyn's policies were.

Ironside is however being his usual dick self - of course there is AS in the party, there is AS everywhere in society.

"Weaponised"

I mean seriously do you even think just a little bit about the massive contradiction between how you treat your own favourite special interest groups, and your v predictable hard leftie attitude to this?

Soz Linda but you're talking nonsense.

I'm not saying that all Jews are making stuff up.  Some might be. Ruth Smeeth definitely did make up AS where none existed.

As for "weaponised" : whether I hold a contradictory position for my own special interest groups is irrelevant to to the question of whether AS was weaponised in fact.
