"Labour conference live: delegates vote to declare Aukus deal threat to world peace"

Have we done this ?

I fear many more years of humiliation and defeat will be needed to persuade the party to give up its addiction to Corbynism.

Israel/Palestine is the seventh most voted for topic to debate by Labour CLPs.

3X more than ‘Ending Fire & Rehire and Protect Workers’ Rights’.

40% more than Coronavirus.

30% more than Social Care.

7X more than Public Services and nearly 9X more than Transport.

Political parties exist to win power and govern. If they want to act like a trade union or charity or single issue pressure group they should vacate their seats and dissolve themselves as a parliamentary force and leave space for a new party to emerge. At the moment they are bed blocking and helping to undermine parliamentary democracy.

I can never get my head around what the "end fire and rehire" actually means. The logical conclusion of this is that an employer could never lawfully serve notice on a contract of employment and offer up new terms to the same person. But that would mean in practice that they could offer the terms to someone new. So person A loses out and has to claim unfair dismissal. A right which they already have if they rejected the new terms, presuming 2 years service.

What chuffy said

These people are jokers

Fire and rehire is v poor speak for imposing new terms at any time just because, and also in a redundancy situation by way of supposed suitable alternative employment. Much abused, but do you want a job or not?

It’s like when JCRs pass motions “condemning” some war or atrocity. Nobody gives a fook. It just makes the student politics types (who go on to be Labour Party activist types) feel important.

The Aukus vote is normal for Celtic Labor

This is the anti English party that all the way through the 1930s gave Hitler encouragement by screaming for Britain to disarm in the face of Hitler's Panzer and Luftwaffe buildup

"Israel/Palestine is the seventh most voted for topic to debate by Labour CLPs."

WTF are the top six?

1. Not limiting women's spaces to persons with vaginas?

2. ???
