Check out the “this is George” post by miles waghorn (great name tbf) and the replies.  They’ve gone full rof

Got to say, I am always up for the opportunity to go full snark on that particular strain of self importance and worthiness that linkedin seems to draw out of so many people, but I don't see why this Waghorn chap is getting such a hostile reception?  I get that some of it is a bit cheesy, and the "hug an old person" signoff at the end may have been a bit much, but can't quite see what has merited such a kicking...

There are 2,600 comments on there; of all the ones I read each was as nauseatingly twee as the others.

Why look for ersatz ROFstyle bantz elsewhere when the real thing is here?

This did make me titter a bit (even if I'm not sure it's true)

"I had a similar experience in a cafe I regularly frequent.

Three times in a row I had witnessed an elderly gentleman sat alone with a cuppa and sandwich, he didn't speak to anyone and seemed really lonely.

On the fourth visit I noticed him there again and decided I would go speak to him as I thought he would appreciate a chat.

I walked over and asked:

"Hi sir, I hope you don't mind but I noticed you were on your own and wondered if you fancied a chat?"

He raised his head and looked stunned that someone was actually speaking to him and replied:

"fook off!"

We never spoke again. 🤷‍♂️"

Ha.  It's almost worth making a LinkedIn account as the old man and putting up something saying "modern kids feel they can come up to you and collect a selfie with you.  Here is a prime C unit from last week at the pub."

TBF - they apparently chatted for half an hour, George gave the Miles chap his details, and - presumably - didn't pose for the selfie under duress, so I'm not really sure what Mr Waghorn has done that is so wrong!  There are so many more deserving recipients of the "Earnest, Smug, Faux Humble, Self Aggrandising Tool of the Day" award on Linkedin.
