Member of SAGE predicted deaths in the thousands

And it's Team Sane that got "pwnt". Somehow this makes sense to Davos and his basic buddies.

Please point to any posts where I've said you said that, or STFU forever.

It is admittedly hard to pinpoint what the position of "team chin" is, between you slapping each other on the backs over some idiotic joke, or delivering various non-sequiturs, or deliberately or dishonestly misrepresenting what the other side is saying, but presumably the closest it can be reduced down to is "oh just ignore it all it will all go away"*. 

Whereas Team Sane has been saying all along that there will be hysteria over covid, as a consequence of over-pessimistic predictions by SAGE, the panic stirred up by the media over the same, the excessive deference practiced by the Government to SAGE, and the inexplicable position adopted by the opposition in ever demanding more restrictions and failing to consider the consequences on liberty of such restrictions even for one second**

These are all serious phenomena that did occur and do have a serious risk of re-occuring, and they are certainly not solved by the basic bantz approach.

You forgot to mention the other things Team Sane have been saying all along re: vaccines being rubbish, restrictions going on for years and years and years, and SAGE secretly running everything. I wonder why?

A fairer portrayal of “team chin” would be “don’t cry about covid going on forever because it won’t”. And it hasn’t. Makes you look like a bit of a wazzock doesn’t it m7.

Thing is, just imagine what the last two years might have softened us up for. And not virus wise. Society-wise. Weaker US, whoever’s in charge. Weakened EU, unable to maintain borders. Tech that busts borders. Inflation, obvs. stuck in our houses. 

Fantastic confabulation from Team Chin just continues and continues deeper and down into new depths of fantasy. These were the same people who said it would all be over by Easter (2020). Two years on they are declaring victory. 

There was lots of clamour for an enquiry into the Government's handling of the pandemic and in particular failing to 'lock down early and hard enough' etc etc.

Shouldn't there also be an independent audit of Sage, their bogus models and constant squeals to lock down at all costs?

I do enjoy team 'sane' trying to some victory out of the absolutely pwnage they have received, mainly from a team who don't really GAF.

It’s hilarious how Team Chin cannot distinguish debating from commentating that they have won the debate. And whenever one cheerleader comes on, so do the rest of them.  It’s a pathetic existence. It was always at best touch and go whether or not there would be another lockdown due to omicron. Yeah SAGE did the scary model thing but evidence was mounting that it wasn't as bad as all that. In conclusion, wingnut right wing politicians can fook off.

Actually I don't think anyone at all was really predicting another lockdown. What was touch and go was whether there would be any backsliding into more significant restrictions, "rule of 6" etc. Full lockdown was never on the cards.

But Bazza is not correct to think team chin are somehow supportive of SAGE.

On a Venn diagram (Google it) there is strong overlap between anti-vaccers and trump conspiracy theorists.

But let's be honest (and please read this as many times as you need to understand), you started a thread about SAGE, basic bros and myself, despite team chin/basic bro never saying one member of SAGE was correct in their December 2021 predictions. Your self proclaimed intelligence and critical thinking has really let you down.

It takes the pyss out of basic bros for variously claiming that Team Sane got “pwnt” as a result of the recent reduction in cases, whereas the only group who got “pwnt” are Sage.

It’s a distinction that I can appreciate tests the very limits of your intelligence, but do give another go at trying to understand it nonetheless.

This is absolutely correct - the fact that the virus has subsided to controllable levels without the need for lockdowns, through the use of vaccines etc, is absolutely a victory for the Team Sane outlook, as opposed to the bedwet tendency who were all calling for further stringent restrictions a few weeks ago.

One of the weirdest things on here is the perception of a divide between Team Chin On and Team Sane. They are one and the same, and their common enemy is Team Piss the Bed And Demand Further Lockdowns.

The problem here is that there are two versions of the “Team Sane outlook”:

1. “COVID isn’t a big deal. It only kills old people. The healthcare system can cope or it would if we used it properly. Don’t worry. Stop doing lockdowns.”
 

I can see how some people might consider that the current situation gives some support for that view, but clearly this skips over how vaccines and the new variant have changed things massively since stalls were set out on this question over a year ago. Verdict: disingenuous at best

2. “COVID isn’t a big deal, but over-reaction to it is going to land us in a new healthcare-focused dystopia where ‘the rules’ prevent normal life from being lived for a very long time (carefully left unspecified but ‘forever’ for rhetorical purposes) far in excess of the actual danger.” 
 

This view has been definitively debunked by events.

“Team Sane” posters have variously claimed both the relaxation of restrictions as victory (relying on argument 1) and the extension of restrictions as victory (relying on argument 2). Clearly incoherent.

I take the other side (“team chin”/“team data”) to have the view that lockdowns were necessary (against argument 1) but that there was/is never any prospect of an argument 2 type situation arising. Obviously this is the one I support and still seems right to me

You’re almost there Laz, but you forgot that the flip side of Team Piss the Bed And Demand Further Lockdowns is Team Piss the Bed and Compare Mask Wearing to a Concentration Camp and Want Further Lockdowns so They Can Be Right on the Internet and Pwn the Libs.

Granted, it’s not a catchy name.

 

Also, questioning the use of “forever” in argument 2 will apparently provoke a load of sarcasm and scorn of the “lol you autist obviously not forever forever” variety but it won’t produce any actually useful time-scale.
