Excellent if true though it seems unlikely. Nobody's civil rights should be stripped away on the back of politically motivated conspiracism & disinformation. Not ours, not refugees, not trans people, not the disabled, not protestors, not employees - nobody's. If Labour run the county as one that respects & bases its laws on the universality of human rights & rule of law then good for them & us.
Chapter 9 - Bad News: The Six Degrees of Manipulation
Although it's impossible to inoculate people against specific falsehoods, it's much more effective to immunize against the building blocks of the [misinformation] virus itself.
This way individuals can gain immunity to may different strains of the same misinformation - negating the need to prebunk every single falsehood individually.
The main underlying techniques used [to manipulate people] are the Six Degrees of Manipulation (DEPICT):
Discrediting content using deflection and denial strategies;
Emotional appeals to manipulate people's feelings;
Polarizing groups of people by driving two camps further apart;
Impersonating people and organisations online;
floating Conspiracy theories to cast doubt on the mainstream narrative; and
Trolling people by falsely amplifying exsiting tensions, sowing societal discord, and manipulating public opinion).
Interactive games such as Bad News, which simulate a social media environment, are an effective 'virtual neeedle' for administering a broad-spectrum vaccine, helping people to spot fake news, become more confident in their ability to discern fact from fiction, and decrease their intentions to share misinformation with others.
Because the effectiveness of psychological vacciens wears off over time, boosting people's immune response ona regualr basis will help sustain its long-term efficacy.
No one gives a fvck about trans people when the economy’s fvcked and there are two wars on that might start a global conflict. But by all means step forward and become the minority to get picked on. Because it’s going to be one of a few obvious candidates and the more the merrier to start with tbh.
Yup Labour focused on the issues that really matter. 100% they’ll be diverting public funds to their fellow travellers in the third sector for “awareness” and “activism” around this and other issues. Pigs in muck.
The Equality Act 1970 which I think the UK had to bring in in order to join the EU when I was a child and the Equality Act 2010 which consolidated a lot of the older law and added to it are what we need - no discrimination against biological women on grounds of sex, no discrimination against the disabled, against whites or blacks or anything in between or trans people (and with age slightly more complex rules). I am not sure we need special days for special people as it tends to highlight differences rather than the similarities there are between all humans.
For some women the trans issue will mean they won't vote Labour. For most of the country money tends to be their main voting issue.
However whatever anyone on here thinks in London do vote on 2 May and if you cannot be bothered or don't know how to vote just vote for Susan Hall to please me as she will abolish my outer London ulez, the bane of my life..... Mind you Khan may well get a 3rd term which is pretty long, getting to North Korean levels of same leader.
In what way are trans people being “screwed over”? We have a “Pride Month”, “LGBT History Month”, this trans “visibility day”, god knows how many other occasions.
If you listen to activists like Fond of Chill you might be forgiven for thinking there is nothing more important than sexuality and being LGBT.
People are converting to trans left right and centre. They clearly wouldn’t be doing that if trans was some sort of a super marginalised group - at least some of those doing it are going ahead because it’s the edgiest thing right now.
Seems like it's only the alt and far right "I want my country back (from you know who!!!!)" brigade who are obsessed with trans people. Wonder what their search history is really like...
