I don’t agree with his views on abortion but he almost sounded sensible today in suggesting it is for states to decide, there could be exceptions to a blanket ban and whatever people decide goes.
Trump went into the 2016 Republican primaries as the least anti-abortion candidate. I don't think his views have changed. And FWIW I agree that Trump is right on this point.
Abortion has poisoned national politics in the US for two generations. Leaving it to the states - which is where it was in the late 60s, early 70s - gets rid of it as a national issue. Nobody suggests that the EU should have uniform abortion laws? Ditto Australia where abortion laws are a matter for the individual states and where historically there were quite big differences, e.g. Queensland vs Victoria during 1980s. Why should the US need to have uniform laws.
Rob, he may be ambivalent or even pro-abortion but he will follow the money which I suspect favours a blanket ban. So his views are just for the election. Or lacking honesty.
All i could really be said to know about US law is that their M&A drafting is dross, but on a cursory look I always thought the justification for a US constitutional right for abortion in Roe v Wade was a bit of a stretch.

Obviously he’s lying but then all politicians do.

Why do you think Trump is lying?

Ffs. He’s just trying to kick it into touch because it’s going to ruin him with the key swing voters he needs.

Trump said democrats want to legalise post-birth abortions so it is hard to believe he would lie about anything.
