US rift with Israel?

The United States has greenlighted the transfer of billions of dollars worth of bombs and fighter jets to Israel, The Washington Post reported, even as it publicly expresses concerns about the long-threatened Israeli invasion of Gaza’s Rafah and the rising civilian casualties in the enclave.

The new arms package includes more than 1,800 MK84 2,000-pound bombs and 500 MK82 500-pound bombs, according to Pentagon and Department of State officials, the Washington Post reported on Friday.

while the complete suspension of military and diplomatic support would be entirely justified in view of the massacres in gaza. there is no realistic prospect of it. Whatever “rift” exists is minor albeit exaggerated by the girlish squealing of the israeli government.

There is no rift. That’s all just smoke and mirrors being deployed by Biden and his Government to make it look like they’re angry. If they want it to stop, they just have to turn off the supply of bombs and military aid.

I won’t say that I hope Biden loses in Nov but if he does, and if that’s because he loses votes over the handling of Israel/Gaza, he’s got nobody to blame but himself.

Gorlami i think the longer term remains to be seen. Younger dems much more anti Israel.

Wont affect the current conflict but if israel becomes a partisan issue they could be really fooked.

Which is why bibi is a moron as well as a corrupt war crimina .

Millennials and Gen Z are more pro-Pali than preceding generations in part I think because they are more social-media savvy, and have a better understanding of “misinformation” thus are less prone to propaganda. Pretty sure most will see through the “rift” as nothing but electoral tactics, but will be interesting to see the way the voting goes…

In the meantime, the supply of weapons and funds will continue, business as usual.

They’re also more stupid; more likely to say  9/11 was fine; less likely to believe in democracy; and campaign as ‘lbgtq for hamas’ which demonstrates the first point

LGBTQ for Hamas accounts for a tiny proportion of the pro-Palestine group.

And as for less likely to believe in democracy….do you blame them? All they hear about right now is that Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East and that the US is the poster child of democracy yet 70% of Americans want a ceasefire and the government has been ignoring the wishes of a clear majority for months.

also, as Gorlami said, yeah young people these days have been given so much reason to believe in democracy, haven’t they

democracy is a means to an end. if it doesn’t deliver that end then fck it
